WINE TASTING AT BERNARDO WINERY
Wine tasting at Bernardo Winery is a treat at this well hidden gem. Bernardo Winery was founded in 1889 and is Southern California’s oldest operating winery. This rustic winery lined with olive trees, vineyards, and early California architecture takes you back to the old world. The winery offers a lot for its visitors. You will find a large inside wine tasting room with comfy couches, tables, high top tables, a standing wine tasting bar, and an outside patio with live music every Sunday.
In addition, there is a quaint village with gardens, unique shops, art gallery, restaurants, and sweets where you can stroll along winery grounds and sip your wine. The Bernardo Winery is one of the best kept secrets in San Diego County. It is family owned for three generations and still produces wine at the winery using San Diego grapes. Some of the wines are produced using grapes from other wine regions as well.
The wine tasting costs $12 for 5 selections of wine from their tasting room menu. They offer red wines, white wines, sparkling wines, and dessert wines. The Sweet Shoppe will pair your wine with a free chocolate. We really enjoyed the chocolate bar port wine with chocolate they paired for us as we relaxed outside on a beautiful sunny San Diego afternoon. If interested, you can order cheese pairings or order food from the restaurant to complement your wine tastings. Private wine tours and tastings are offered as well. The Bernardo Winery is truly a fun place to visit and enjoy your wine. Cheers!
