WINE TASTING AT URBAN WINERIES
Wine tasting at urban wineries is a lot of fun. Urban wineries are a relatively new phenomenon whereby a wine producer chooses to locate their wine making facility in an urban setting rather than in the traditional rural setting near the vineyards. From New York to California urban wineries are proving to be more than just a fad. The wine tasting at the urban wineries offers city dwellers a chance to experience the winery environment without leaving their city boundaries.
SAN DIEGO URBAN WINERIES
“Bringing grapes from the country, making wine in the city”
The San Diego Urban Wineries were founded in 2013. The San Diego Urban Wineries (SDUW) is a coalition of wineries throughout San Diego County that craft wine of exceptional quality. Their mission is to increase awareness of locally crafted, artisanal wine while creating a collaborative community for the city winemaker. There are wine tasting rooms along the San Diego coastline, in the countryside, and throughout the urban core. They represent a wide range of wine making styles. Some grapes are sourced from local vineyards, others are sourced from vineyards throughout California, Pacific Northwest, and Baja Valle de Guadalupe.
We recently visited two San Diego Urban Wineries and enjoyed the wine tastings at both the Blue Door Winery and Pali Wine Co and Winery Tasting Room. For more information on the wine tasting at both of these wineries you can check out our blogs dated 8/13/17 and 8/22/17.
