GRGICH HILLS ESTATE WINERY DINNER AT THE CAVE- PALA CASINO
Grgich Hills Estate Winery Dinner at the Cave located at Pala Casino was amazing, Grgich Hills Estate Winery hosted a fabulous five-course Dinner and Wine Pairing inside the underground Cave. The Cave is a unique wine tasting experience. It has a selection of over 480 wine labels from California, France and Italy as well as top shelf spirits and craft brews.
The Grgich Hills Estate Winery Dinner paired five delicious wines, Fume Blanc, Chardonnay, Zinfandel, Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon with five tasty dishes. Our favorite dishes were the Bacon Wrapped Quail paired with Zinfandel and the Chocolate Dessert Creation paired with Cabernet Sauvignon.
Miljenko “Mike” Grgich and his partner broke ground for their winery in 1977. The Grgich Hills Estate winery has remained family owned and operated ever since. They have consistently produced many award winning wines year after year. They have five estate vineyards that are certified organic and located in mostly Napa wine country to include, Calistoga, Rutherford, Yountville, Carneros, and American Canyon.
Mike is a legend in the winemaking world and is celebrating his 95th birthday this year. Before he opened his own vineyard, he crafted the 1973 Chateau Montelena Chardonnay that was the champion of the 1976 Paris Tasting. By winning the blind tasting in Paris of the California Chardonnay and French Chardonnays, Napa Valley winemaking became world reknown. The 1973 bottle crafted by Mike Grgich is part of an exhibit selected by the Smithsonian Institute as one of “ 101 Objects That Made America.”
The Grgich Hills Estate Winery Dinner at the Cave truly was a great evening. We absolutely loved the wine and food pairings and learned so much from Jacquee from Grgich Hills. We even bought several Zinfandels and Cabernet Sauvignons to enjoy at home.
Cheers!
