CAYMUS VINEYARDS WINE DINNER AT ROY’S RESTAURANT
Caymus Vineyards Wine Dinner at Roy’s Restaurant in La Jolla was fantastic! Roy’s Restaurant paired five delicious courses with five wonderful Caymus Vineyards wines. Roy’s is a popular Asian/Hawaiian Fusion Restaurant with numerous California locations. Caymus Vineyards is located in Napa Valley.
Caymus Vineyards is owned by Chuck Wagner and family. They have farmed the current Caymus property wine grapes since 1940 until 1972 when the winery was established. At that time, their fruit was sold to other area wineries. Caymus planted Cabernet Sauvignon grapes in the 1960’s from Stags Leap grapes. Caymus “Special Selection” Cabs are not produced every year, only the best vintages. In 1989, Wine Spectator named the 1984 Caymus Special Selection “Wine of the Year”. Caymus Vineyards won that title again in 1994 for the 1990 Caymus Special Selection.
Roy’s five course wine dinner included Dungeness Crab, Sea Scallop & Foie Gras, Alaskan Black Cod, Wagyu Beef Short Rib, and Baked Alaska for dessert. The Caymus Vineyards are world-renowned for its Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon but they have also created a range of other wines including: Mer Soleil, Conundrum, Emmolo, and Red Schooner. Our favorite food and wine pairings of the night were the Alaskan Black Cod with the Caymus 2015 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon and the Wagyu Beef Short Rib with the Emmolo 2015 Napa Valley Merlot.
We really enjoyed the Caymus Vineyards Wine Dinner at Roy’s Restaurant. The food and wines were paired perfectly. The wine dinner was truly delicious and a wonderful sensory experience. We would definitely recommend this wine dinner event!
Cheers!
