WINE TASTING AT SAN PASQUAL WINERY
Wine tasting at San Pasqual Winery was a fun experience. San Pasqual Winery is a small family owned winery in La Mesa. We visited San Pasqual Winery Wine Bar and Gallery for our wine tasting Their main winery and production facility is located at another site in La Mesa and a downtown tasting room is also available at Seaport Village by the waterfront. Wine Tasting is available at all three locations. The San Pasqual Winery namesake dates back to the 1970’s when the winery was located in San Pasqual Valley. It was reinvented as San Diego’s first urban winery and was listed in Sunset Magazine, “Hot 100 West Coast Trends”.
San Pasqual Winery uses grapes sourced from local vineyards and other regions throughout California to make their wine onsite at their production facility. The Owner/Winemaker Linda McWilliams has produced numerous award winning wines. She is also the past-president of the San Diego County Vintners Association. San Pasqual Winery is known for their unique passion fruit wine but also has a good selection of varietals and blends. Linda was very friendly and knowledgeable about winemaking She informed us that their 2015 Cabernet Franc was recently a Double Gold winner at the San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition.
The San Pasqual Winery Wine Bar is nice and cozy. There are high top and regular tables and chairs, a wine bar, and comfy couches to enjoy your wine tasting. In addition, there is a back room for music and entertainment.
The wine tasting flights at San Pasqual Winery are $10 for 5 tastes or deluxe tasting for $20 which includes double tastes and a souvenir logo glass. White wines, Red wines, Passion Fruit wines, and Dessert wines are available for tasting. They also offer Sangria Sundays every Sunday from noon-5:00 pm. We enjoyed the Red wine flight of Malbec, Barbera, Three Barrel Blend, Cabbiolo, and Cuvee Classic. We also got to try a glass of their popular Summer Vine “Habanero” Passion Fruit wine. Our favorite was the Cabbiolo and we bought a bottle to enjoy at home. The San Pasqual Wine Bar Tasting Room is pet friendly. Guests were observed enjoying sipping their wine with their dogs at their sides.
A Wine Club is available at San Pasqual Winery if interested. Special events and lively music for guests happen on a weekly basis during the weekends as well.
We used our San Diego Urban Wineries (SDUW) Passport at San Pasqual Winery. The SDUW passport costs $35 and is good for free wine tasting at participating San Diego Urban Wineries. We have used this VIP Passport to enjoy wine tastings at numerous San Diego Urban Wineries over the last several months.
We really enjoyed our wine tasting at San Pasqual Winery Wine Bar & Gallery. We look forward to returning soon.
Cheers!
